Take One...Black Dress

The arrival of a new season always means it's time for a little wardrobe re-assessment. Some items have to go  but others remain wardrobe the little black dress. This is a classic piece that nobody should be without and I love how it can be re-invented with each wear just be mixing up your accessories.

My favourite thing about the LBD is that it allows me to plan my entire outfit around my shoes!

Here's a little styling inspiration....

Dress: Warehouse
Purple Colour Block Heels: River Island
Black/Gold Heels: Charlotte Olympia
Glitter Heels: Miu Miu
Nude Heels: Jimmy Choo
Red Heels: Aldo

Who else is a fan of the LBD?

Style Star: Hailee Steinfeld

This week's Style Star goes to Hailee Steinfeld who is fast becoming a red carpet regular. Here she is pictured at an awards ceremony in Beverly Hills wearing a gorgeous dress by Maje. I love how the cape trend has gone beyond outerwear alone and is now working its way into glamorous evening wear like this.

Hailee's leopard print booties add the perfect finishing touch to her all black ensemble!

Loubie Love...

To celebrate 20 years of Christian Louboutin, the renowned shoe designer is releasing a beautiful book that will chronicle his rise to cult status and showcase some of his most stunning designs.
Due to be published in late October, this book will be a must for any fashionable coffee table and according to Amazon, it is 'a work of art in itself' featuring an elaborate fold out cover and an intricate pop-up. I will definitely be investing!

And hopefully I will help Mr. Louboutin celebrate 20 years in business by purchasing my very own pair of loubies in 2012. Any of these would be perfect...a girl can dream :)

Spotlight On: Salvatore Ferragamo

Salvatore Ferragamo - now this is a summer collection! I love the vibrant colours, the tropical prints and the luxe, glossy fabrics. This was my favourite show from Milan fashion week and one of the best S/S collections I have seen so far.

Looking at these photos makes me want to plan a holiday!

Details: Scalloped Edges

My wardrobe is packed full of girly pieces that I like to mix with more tailored classics. One of my favourite details in achieving that soft, feminine touch is scalloped edges.

I love the cute, girly impact that scalloped edging creates and I'm thrilled to see it featuring heavily on the Spring catwalks. Even better, there are some great pieces in-stores right now!

Here are some of my favourites!

Style Star: Olivia Palermo

I've decided to introduce 'Style Stars' to the blog to share celebrity looks I love!
My first one goes to Olivia Palermo, whose style I have long been a fan of.  She knows what shapes work for her and always looks polished and chic. Accessories are always a key element of her look and add the perfect finishing touch. Here she is pictured at the Mulberry Spring 2012 Show at London Fashion Week wearing an outfit from the brand's Resort 2012 collection.

How do you wear your spots?

Spotlight On: Burberry Prorsum

The Burberry Prorsum show is always a highlight for me during fashion month and one that definitely leads the way in setting trends. Season upon season, I am completely amazed at how Christopher Bailey continues to re-invent the iconic trench coat-giving it a fresh new twist while always staying true to the signature Burberry style.

The Spring 2012 collection is elegant and ladylike - I love the shapely silhouettes created by fitted striped pencil skirts and full skirted trench coats. The colour palette is rich and warm and the collection has a definite tribal beat running through it - referenced in prints, raffia and beading.

This was such a stunning collection that it was hard to narrow down my favourite looks! If you haven't already watched the show I highly recommend you do so now by clicking here

Monday is here again and what better way to start the week than with a few designer inspired pieces hot off the highstreet?

1) Get the 60s mod look, as seen at Bottega Venetta, with this minimalist coat from Dorothy Perkins. It has a gorgeous scallop detail down the front and the bright orange is sure to add a pop of colour to these dull mornings!
 2) Miu Miu led the way in this season's revival of 1940s inspired silhouettes and I've spotted several imitations of their printed dresses on the high street already. I think this one from Warehouse is gorgeous. Just add a faux fur wrap to complete this luxe lady-like look!

3) ASOS have got Marc by Marc Jacobs' 70s inspired glamour down to a tee in this outfit. I love the floppy hat!
4) Sarah Jessica Parker is a huge fan of these Charlotte Olympia Dolly Shoes, and has been spotted wearing them in several different colours during her recent promo tour for 'I Don't Know How She Does It'. Steal her style with these Gold Platform Pumps from Zara.

Happy Shopping!

Keeping Stylish on Sunday

According to DKNY, stylish communication is just as important as stylish fashion-so they have come up with this gorgeous line of stationary especially for Cocodot. The seriously chic range includes invitations, thank-you cards and blank notelets all inspired by the New York Mod theme of DKNY's Fall 2011 collection

I must admit I have a bit of an obsession with pretty stationary and I adore DKNY so this is very exciting for me! I'll happily take my style notes on some of these....

Visit Cocodot to view the full collection and order your own personalised prints

Ad Love...

I'm getting serious outfit inspiration this week from the gorgeous Chloe Resort 2012 Lookbook. The mix of light airy fabrics with tailored classics looks so elegant and simple. I'm especially loving the black coat in the last shot, it's pure Parisian chic and a gorgeous statement piece.
