As as blonde, I've always been a bit wary of wearing yellow-in fact I think it's the only colour missing from my wardrobe-but this season thanks to Mr Marc Jacobs I'm going to give it a go! I loved everything about the 70's inspired Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall collection, especially the mustard and bronze tones.
I'm really looking forward to adding these rich hues to my autumn wardrobe!
Hi everyone, happy Monday! This weekend I've been.....
1.) Visiting my favourite shop, Zara. I couldn't leave this gorgeous metallic lace top behind. It's the perfect nod to this season's high shine trend yet also a classic piece that I can pull out year after year. I also picked up this cute boxy clutch in Penneys-a neutral bag always comes in useful for nights out!
2.) Re-organising my dressing table. It's now clutter free and home to just the essentials. I need to make a note to fill this photo frame though!
3.) Reading the September issue of Harper's Bazaar UK. I loved this jewellery editorial-and the model's hair!
4.) Wearing my new navy blazer that I bought in Penneys a few weeks ago. At €23, this was a great find. It fits perfectly and is nicely structured-great over jeans or dresses.
I have a major love for the fashion house of McQueen- from the drama of the runway shows to the fabulous accessories line. The iconic skull print scarves, the knuckleduster clutches, the buttery soft leather handbags, the statement heels.......I could go on! I love it all and hopefully someday soon I'll own my very own piece of McQueen!
But for now, here's some lovely pieces catching my eye
A little Friday ad love....this week it's dedicated to Donna Karan Fall/Winter 2011. I really love this collection and I think it led the way in this season's revival of 1940's glamour. Every look just screams luxury and sophistication!
"This collection was about the empowerment of women, their words of wisdom and their ability to be strong and take a stand without giving up their femininity" (Donna Karan)
I also stumbled across this shot of Drew Barrymore in Donna Karan for Neiman Marcus' Fall lookbook, she looks amazing!
Swing into the new season in style in one of Autumn's key pieces-The Cape. Appearing on almost every major runway during the Fall/Winter shows, the cape has instantly been elevated to superhero status. And rightly so! While the cape can be a tricky piece to wear, if you style it with the right pieces it can create an amazing silhouette. My personal choice would be to pair it with skinny jeans or straight cut trousers. Tailored capes also look great teamed with a pencil skirt, while loose blanket style capes are the perfect transitional piece and work really well when layered over cosy knits.
Here's a selection of looks currently inspiring me as I keep an eye out for the perfect cape!
The high street never fails to emulate the looks of our favourite celebs and designers to perfection. Here's a few almost identical pieces I've come across lately.
1) Olivia Palermo stepped out in this striking Victoria Beckham dress at a premiere during the summer. The tunic shape and colour is right on trend for the season ahead. Get the look for less with this dress from Zara.
2) Polka dots are everywhere at the moment but Topshop have really taken inspiration from Stella McCartney with this gorgeous sheer, dotty top! Just add skinny jeans and heels for a fab evening look!
3) I loved this Michael Kors Jumpsuit on Rosie Huntington Whiteley so imagine my delight when I spotted this version new in at Oasis!
4) Last but not least, these Topshop sandals could have walked right off the Gucci S/S 11 Catwalk! The only thing I'd change is the gold knotted straps-but I love the teal colour!
As the new season collections are arriving thick and fast into stores every day, I'm compiling a mental wishlist of all my autumn must haves! I found this coat at Warehouse yesterday and took note. I love everything about this cute 60's inspired design, from the round collar to the gold buttons and the colour-popping shade of pink.
First we had stripes, then spots and now the fashion world has gone all starry eyed! The twinkling print first emerged on the Dolce & Gabbana Autumn/Winter Runway and has since proved a hit with fashion editors and stylists around the globe, gracing countless editorials and magazine covers. My favourite cover so far is still Anne Hathaway for Marie Claire UK- the print looks so striking and she is positively glowing!
I'm posting this today as I'm off to a preview screening of her new movie, 'One Day', this evening which I'm very excited about. I really hope it lives up to all the hype!
In case you haven't noticed already, I have a little shoe obsession...My collection has been growing steadily for the past couple of years and my wardrobe has become a bit chaotic. So this weekend I decided a little re-organisation was required. As I was doing this, I found loads of pairs that I don't wear often enough or that I'd totally forgotten about! Here's a few snapshots I took while playing dress up.
1) Leopard print is a timeless trend and a must for dressing up an otherwise plain outfit.
2) I like the mix of colours in these and the criss cross strap makes them a bit different.
3) I got these recently in the Carvela summer sale. I'd been on the hunt for nude patent heels for ages and these fit the bill perfectly!
4) These were an impulse buy last year. They're by Irregular Choice and there was just something about the quirky shape that caught my eye!
5) My most recent purchase-cheap and cheerful from Penneys and ticking the chunky heel trend box for this season!
6) Pale pink tulle peep toes with diamonte heels-never worn! I got these over a year ago and completely forgot about them, must work them into an outfit soon!
I've discovered some great new make-up products this weekend that I'm dying to try out!
First up is Benefit-I love them for their cute packaging and innovative product names. Their latest offerings are as fun as ever! The 'Watts Up' highlighter hits counters next month promising to give a gorgeous glow around the cheek and brow bones. Meanwhile their newest mascara 'They're Real' is set to give false lashes a run for their money with it's lengthening, curling, volumising, lifting & separating qualities! I must have it!
Lancome is one of my favourite make-up brands and I'm always excited to see new product releases. This gorgeous blush palette caught my eye for its gorgeous design which is based on the address of Lancome's original boutique in Paris. It's made up of three pretty pink and peach toned shades that both highlight and contour. So it's multi-tasking and pretty-what more could I ask for?!
Finally, MAC have added a new Beauty Balm to their Prep & Prime range. I've tried the Prep & Prime powder before and loved it, so I have high hopes for this new formula that promises to hydrate and illuminate the face. It has a hint of colour so that it can be worn on its own for a subtle day time look or as a primer under foundation. As an added bonus it also contains SPF 35!
Have you used any of these products yet? I'd love to hear all about them!
The Autumn/Winter catwalks were far from dull. As well as explosions of bold primary colours and jewel tones, there was also a wonderful splash of sparkle and shine! The runways were shimmering at Dolce & Gabbana, Balmain, Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs-where glitz and shine wasn't reserved for evening wear alone but also incorporated into relaxed, day-time looks.
The trend has filtered right down to accessories so if full-on sequins and shimmer feel a bit much, simply add a glittery clutch or a fab pair of gold heels to give your outfit a glossy finish!
Here are a few shiny pieces currently catching my eye!
I've been lusting after these fab wedges since spotting them in last month's Vogue Runway Round Up. Anja Rubik is the new face of Kurt Geiger for A/W and according to Rebecca Farrar-Hockley, Creative Director of Kurt Geiger, "She personifies the spirit of the Kurt Geiger girl, effortlessly stylish with an edge of urban glamour"
They definitely brighten up a rainy Monday evening!
